If you ever feel like immersing yourself in the immense beauty of the eastern hills, enjoying authentic Nepali cuisine, or escaping from the chaos of your everyday life. And if you ever feel like cheating reality for a little while, I assure you that Shree Antu would be one of the best destinations for you.
Shree Antu is one of those places with a ‘close to nature vibe’. The food and accommodation here are not expensive, the people there are so hospitable, and the aesthetics are breathtaking. You can collect some lifetime memories at the place.
How can you reach there ?
You can easily catch a public vehicle from anywhere along the East-West highway to Ilam. When you reach Kanyam, you can change your bus to reach Shree Antu. For people having their own vehicle, the place is roughly 13 km away from Kanyam. Even though the roads are narrow, they are pitched. Believe me, you won’t have any trouble reaching up there.
Where should you stay?
Once you reach the destination, you will find an abundance of hotels, homestays, and cottages. If you are visiting with your family or want a tranquil environment to spend your days in, I propose that you stay at a homestay. Reverse, if you are visiting with friends and looking forward to having some fun, staying in cottages or hotels will be ideal. I visited with my family and we stayed at ‘Antu Homestay’. They are great hosts and amazing humans.
What should you not miss?
- Sunsets
- Stroll around the tea garden
- There’s a small pond called ‘Antu Pokhari‘ which is beautifully decorated to please the visitors. A walk around the pond soothes your soul to a next level.
- Sunrise: You can have the most enchanting view of sunrise from the Antu View Tower. Even though you have to walk for a good few minutes to reach the tower, you will absolutely love the place. Plus, the place also offers you a great view of tista river and darjeeling.
- Try the authentic chilly pickle. You will find home-made pickles of chilly (akbare khursani) all around the place. It’s a treat for people who love spices.
