I just wanted to write about my experience in applying for a Canadian student visa so that no one has to go through the struggle that I went through. Here’s the stepwise procedure for the entire application process.
Step Zero
You are applying for Canada means you have completed either Bachelor or Secondary level. You can go through the entire application process on your own. Seeking professional help from consultancies would be the last option. On top of that, most of the consultancies in Nepal do not have the expertise they should have. They are just throwing stones in the dark and if they can do it, why can’t you?
Step One
Complete your language test requirement. For Canada, you can go for either IELTS or PTE. The score requirement varies as per the college and the level of study you are applying for. However, if you score less than 5.5(IELTS) or 45 (PTE) there are high chances that your application will be rejected based on the premise that you do not meet language requirements. I would recommend every applicant to give the test again if this is the scenario.
Step Two
Get an offer letter. You must get a valid offer letter from the educational institution you are intending to study at. To get the offer letter, go to the official site of the University/College, and search for the option of applying as an international student. After creating your account and submitting all the documents, you will get your offer letter within a few days/week.
Step Three
Create your own document checklist and collect them. Remember that IRCC views every application uniquely. Rather than bluntly following what prior applicants submitted, you create your own checklist and start gathering all the documents. You have to submit all the documents under two compressed pdfs of less than 4 MB size. The first pdf will include client information (all of your study certificates, professional training certificates, certificates of extracurricular activities if any, and SOP). The second pdf will be about financial information. You should show enough proof that you can afford it during your stay in Canada. Please visit https://blog.purnimabaral.com.np/2022/01/22/proof-of-financial-documents/ for details on financial documents, and https://blog.purnimabaral.com.np/2022/01/23/how-to-craft-an-effective-sop-for-canada/ for ideas on writing an effective SOP.
Step Four: Create your own GCKey
Visit the link Sign in to your IRCC secure account – Canada.ca to register your own GCkey. After creating one, you will see an option “apply to come to Canada”. After that, go to “determine your eligibility and apply online”. You will have to answer a series of questions to determine your eligibility. After completing the wizard, you will reach the application portal.
Step Five: Fill out the forms
Applicants from Nepal must fill out two forms. The first one is IMM 1294 and the second ne is family information (IMM 5645 or IMM 5707). Both of the forms are available in this link https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides.html
Step 6: Review and submit your application.
Step 7: Wait and have patience
